Juliane Codd Toce is the Director of Education at Arts for Learning Maryland. She began teaching in 2010 in Massachusetts after attending Boston University. She has a MSEd in Educational Theory and Practice and was awarded the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher award in 2016.
After experiencing burn-out herself, Juliane changed her practice to be more like the impactful teachers she remembered in her youth. Her approach revolves around genuine student interactions and engagement through authentic classroom experiences. A product of city public schools (Metro Nashville Public Schools), she understands the impact a teacher can have on a student. The practices she developed are effective in any classroom. When teachers are authentic and genuine to themselves and their students, they earn the potential to have and enjoy a balanced classroom.
